This bud vase has been hand carved from oak, ebonised, sanded and then charred in places to darken the surface even further. While it is mostly black, you can still see some subtle warm brown woody tones if you put it in a really bright spot by a window, or under a lamp. Its very subtle, but much more organic that the really solid black of fully charring the whole surface. I think the pictures make it look a little more blue-ish in colour than it does to the eye, due to the light on that day.

Finished with danish oil.

The vase is about 17cm tall, 14cm wide, and 5cm deep. The hole is 1.9cm in diameter.
